CLASS DESCRIPTION

The goal of the camp is to teach kids five fundamentals around self-defense: avoiding, evading, blocking, striking, and grappling. Classes are customized based on the age group.

  • Avoiding
A conversation on when and where it is acceptable to use force to defend yourself or others. We believe that avoiding a conflict is the best way to ensure safety. We will teach kids how to use their voice and situational awareness to de-escalate a conflict before attempting to use force.

  • Evading
We will begin working on ways to avoid being grabbed or hit by using various footwork and tumbling techniques in order to escape a potentially dangerous situation.

  • Blocking
Practice using “shields” to protect the head and body when avoiding a conflict becomes impossible.

  • Striking
Learn to effectively punch, kick, knee, and elbow strike using pads, bags, and other training tools.

  • Grappling
Learn how to manage a situation that results in clinching or ends up on the ground using advantages in leverage to control a bigger or stronger opponent.

Note for parents: Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early. We recommend bringing water and a snack for your child.

No cancellation or refunds. We will send out more information regarding the camp as the date approaches.
